Museum associate to head Larson Gallery

Yakima Herald Republic: July 21, 2012

Yakima Valley Museum Associate Director David Lynx will leave that job to take the helm of Yakima Valley Community College’s Larson Gallery, starting Sept. 1.

Lynx, who came to the museum 18 years ago as curator of education, will replace Cheryl Hahn, who officially retired from the Larson Gallery at the end of June. He has taught art history and appreciation classes at YVCC and has volunteered at the gallery. He also spent more than four years at the Sheehan Gallery at Whitman College.

“That’s how I started in the museum field, actually, was in an art gallery,” Lynx said.

His parting with the museum is amicable, he said. He will continue working on the museum’s website.

“And I’m sure I’ll be on call,” Lynx said.
